Wow, it’s been awhile since I last posted about what I want…
To continue the series, here’s my list for this week:
1. From Third World to First: The Singapore Story, a book by Singapore’s former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew
We all know who Lee Kuan Yew is and how he turned a former British colony with a struggling economy into Southeast Asia’s most progressive, high-tech and first-class city in a such a short span of time. I first read about the existence of this book from the AntiPinoy website. AntiPinoy posted an excerpt of the book that features LKY’s observations and views on the Filipinos and the Philippines which I find extremely interesting. I do not have any intellectual pretensions – excuse me – and I rarely read autobiographies or memoirs, but I just simply want to know how this man turned an island-country with no resources to speak of into what it is now. I’ve seen a lot of good feedback about this book from international readers, and, if I were filthy rich, I’d buy lots of copies and distribute it to government officials back home with the hope that they learn a lesson or two in finding solutions to our country’s problems. Huwag lang sana nilang paandarin ang pagka-balat-sibuyas. Gah!
2. I like to munch on something while I’m reading… so I’m thinking of…
Boy Bawang! It’s a Filipino fried corn junk food also known as cornick in my childhood. I just love the taste of garlic-flavoured Boy Bawang and I can finish a big pack in one sitting EASILY! To neutralise the salty flavour of Boy Bawang, I want some caramel popcorn! I love caramel popcorn and and enjoy eating it immensely. I drool over the image of golden popcorn, with a crunchy sweet caramel coating. So what if junk food is not good for one’s health? It’s an instant remedy for those times when I get peckish and it makes reading more enjoyable at the same time! I’m glad it’s available at the Pinoy store here 😛
3. And, because of the junk foods and the sedentary book-reading, I want something to keep my weight from ballooning without hitting the gym… new Wii games to the rescue – this Wii Fit Plus! looks good to me. Perhaps later this year I’d be able to get one of this, and probably some adapexin p when I want to reach a certain weight level faster! *lol*
